Home > Paolo Roversi ‘Incontri’ in Milan, Galleria Carla Sozzani

Since the early 80s, his photographs have met the demands of a constant formal rigor which lends them an astonishingly timeless character, in contradiction to the tastes and customs of fashion. His familiarity with the history of art, and with Italian painting in particular, allows him to make photographs in the manner of a painter. He often works in series on a single theme or model, as if he sought to capture every last one of its formal possibilities. (source)

An intimate atmosphere for an incredibly beautiful exhibition.

The location perfectly complements the images, they are delicate gazes stolen from the models Roversi photographed.

It doesn’t look like the usual fashion photography though, the choice of shallow depth of field and the use of film and polaroids in most pictures almost makes you feel like an intruder into their personal space.

There are a few still lives in there as well, a lamp, a camera, the interior of a studio where prints are hung to dry…
The atmosphere is one of being the spectator of a very quiet, very slow process of creation.

The exhibition will be open until 11th February 2018.
