This month’s challenge is Time. You have time to think and take an image to enter the competition! Time is such an interesting concept in philosophy but also the technical aspects of time within photography. Whichever way you approach this challenge, don’t forget to add your name and text about the image. We discuss these topics in our photography courses here in sunny London.

  1. Willy Ronis
Ronis’ passion for music has been observed in his photographs. He was born in Paris in 1910 and died at the age of 99 in 2009.  After his father’s death, he sold his studio and he became a full-time freelance photographer in 1945. He joined Doisneau, Brassaï, and others at the Rapho Agency. He was the first French photographer to work for LIFE Magazine. Edward Steichen exhibited him in a show at the Museum of Modern Art in 1953 called Four French Photographers including Henri Cartier Bresson.
  2. Aaron Tilley
Tilley is a London based still life photographer whose images would take so much time to create. They are concept-driven, very playful and highly technical needing a team to create these. Aaron works with the best agencies on some great brands.
  3. Chris Leskovsek
We love this image of Chris Leskovsek. Super clever work. His images are like poetry and the way he sequences in his Vimeo video on his website. he is from Chile but lives in New Zealand.
  4. Alessandro Iovino
Working as a freelance photographer for big publications and news titles, he is working on completing a book for one of his longer projects. He also works in the commercial and editorial world which allows him to fund his longer projects. A constant discussion for photographers. He is from Italy.
  5. Sergio Larrain
A Magnum photographer 1959 who photographed in black and white. He said “A good image is created by a state of grace. Grace expresses itself when it has been freed from conventions, free like a child in his early discovery of the reality. The game is then to organize the rectangle” Like Ronis, he studied music before taking up photography in 1949. He was born in 1931 in Chile.
