The Barbican has opened a new exhibition and it thought to be amazing. Masculinities Liberation through Photography. It opened on the 20th February and runs till the 17th May 2020. We are big fans of the Barbican here at London Institute of Photography and if you have done our Beginners or Intermediate course at LIoP you will have visited there.

The exhibition is described as exploring the diverse ways masculinity has been experienced, performed, coded and socially constructed in photography and film from the 1960s to the present day.

Touching on queer identity, race, power and patriarchy, men as seen by women, stereotypes of dominant masculinity as well as the family, the exhibition presents masculinity in all its myriad forms, rife with contradictions and complexities.
