What is the module about?

The goal of the Photography Careers module is to develop an individual photographic signature, it is aimed at photographers who want to enter the photography industry as well as those who want to boost their work to the next level.

The objective is to improve your ability to create a strong and coherent body of work, while defining your visual style through individual portfolio reviews and association techniques. Owning your own distinctive style is essential for photography careers in a highly competitive market.

This module will prepare you for a photography career in the industry by building on your understanding of marketing strategies and teaching you about earnings potential, as well as other key factors to take into consideration when starting out as a professional photographer.

The Photographer as a brand
Individual portfolio reviews and group discussions
How to edit your work and present your images
The photography market (fashion, portrait, still life, editorial, advertising, stock photography, fine art, annual reports etc.)
Professional presentation methods (portfolios, promos, cards, photo books, web pages, iPads, social networks, emailers etc.)
Agents (the role of an agent and how to find one)
Business structures of different clients like magazines, publishers and advertising agencies and how to approach them
Model releases
Copyrights and royalties
Estimates and invoices
